Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy
The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) magnet academy at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics provides third through fifth grade students an integrated, rigorous academic program. Based on the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), the comprehensive, STEM magnet program uses a balance of texts and technological resources to provide an education that is challenging at higher levels, and faster-paced, than most traditional elementary learning environments. 
Schools and District Offices Close for Thanksgiving Holidays
All Marietta City schools close for the Thanksgiving Holiday from Monday, Nov. 24 through Friday, Nov. 28. Classes end at all district schools Friday, Nov. 21 and resume Monday, Dec. 1, 2008.
Marietta City Schools’ central administrative offices, including the Department of Special Services, Central Registration, Transportation and Food Service offices will close for the Thanksgiving Holiday from Wednesday, Nov. 26 through Friday, Nov. 28.
Regular operation hours resume at these locations, Monday, Dec. 1, 2008.
Marietta Center Awarded Platinum Status for Student Achievement
The Marietta Center for Advanced Academics (MCAA) has earned Platinum status for highest performance in student achievement. MCAA is one of only 16 elementary schools statewide receiving a Platinum level award from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA). More»
School Governance Teams to Solicit Input Proposed 2009-2010 School Calendars
Marietta City Schools (MCS) new School Governance Teams (SGT) and the School Council at Sawyer Road Elementary will work with their individual schools to solicit input from all parents and guardians of students attending MCS, and district employees, regarding three proposed calendar options for the 2009-2010 school year. Choice Academies Information Session, Dec. 10
A Choice Academies information session is scheduled Dec. 10, 2008 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Cobb Central Library, 266 Roswell Street in Marietta. This informative session will help parents and community members learn more about the Choice Academies application process, and the unique academic programs offered at each school.
