Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy

The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) magnet academy at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics provides third through fifth grade students an integrated, rigorous academic program. Based on the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS), the comprehensive, STEM magnet program uses a balance of texts and technological resources to provide an education that is challenging at higher levels, and faster-paced, than most traditional elementary learning environments.

The Marietta City Schools Transportation Department hosts their annual "Kindergarten Kruise" on Thursday, Aug. 6 for elementary students and their parents. Buses run during regularly scheduled route times, and any elementary student, regardless of grade, can ride the bus with their parent. Parents and students are returned to their original pickup location upon completion of the route.

Marietta City Schools (MCS) recent strategic planning survey shows parents overall level of satisfaction rose from 81.1 percent in 2006 to 89.5 percent in 2009. This measure represents the percentage of parents who responded being either “somewhat satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the school district’s performance on key priorities in the system strategic plan. The April 2009 survey mailed to 5,099 households reflects a response rate of 15.9 percent by 813 parents. Two surveys were mailed, a Title I schools survey paid from Federal Title I funds ($22,000), and a non-Title I school survey paid from General Funds ($3,000).

Marietta City Schools (MCS) moves to a summer schedule four-day week beginning June 5, with most facilities closing one day per week Fridays: June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 10 and 17. MCS will close Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. More»
