Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics Academy - 2010 Georgia School of Excellence
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) magnet academy at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics provides third through fifth grade students

an integrated, rigorous academic program. Based on the Commom Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS), the comprehensive, STEM magnet program uses a balance of texts and technological resources to provide an education that is challenging at higher levels, and faster-paced, than most traditional elementary learning environments.

Marietta Reads! & Cobb County Public Library Partner For Literacy, May 25
Marietta City Schools (MCS) and the Cobb County Public Library System are teaming for free events to support and celebrate the district’s Marietta Reads! literacy initiative. On Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m., join Marietta Reads! and Lynne Yates of the Georgia Equine Rescue League (GERL) for a free workshop about horse rescue. This free event takes place in the Activity Room of the Hattie G. Wilson Youth Services Department located at the Cobb County Central Library, 266 Roswell Street, Marietta. More»

Spring 2013 Kiwanis GEM Awards, May 16
The Kiwanis Club of Marietta recognizes a teacher and/or administrator as well as a student in each of the Marietta City Schools for "Going the Extra Mile" (GEM). Each school has a plaque on the wall of their school with the names of each GEM Award recipient since 1996. The spring 2013 Kiwanis GEM Awards were presented Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Marietta Conference Center.

Marietta City Schools (MCS) 2013 retirees recently gathered for a luncheon recognizing their 544 combined years of service to the school system.

Marietta City Schools has earned top honors for technology integration, and placed 1st, among mid-sized school districts (3,000 – 12,000 students), in the nation’s ninth annual Digital School Districts Survey by the Center for Digital Education (CDE) and the National School Boards Association (NSBA). Georgia’s New College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI)
On Tuesday, May 7, State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge released the first-ever Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) that measures schools and school districts on an easy-to-understand 100 point scale. The results in this initial release are based on 2011-2012 school year data. Each district, will receive a score for each grade band (Elementary, Middle and High School), and for individual schools. The average score for Georgia’s elementary schools is 83.4, middle schools is 81.4 and high schools is 72.6.

2012-2013 Energy Challenge
Save-A-Watt is an energy conservation contest for Marietta City elementary and secondary schools to compete to decrease their electrical consumption and identify sustainable energy conservation methods. Marietta City Schools launched Save-A-Watt in 2009 in partnership with Marietta Power & Water and Apogee Interactive, Inc.

Board Supports GSBA Vision for Public Education in Georgia
The Board of Education of the City of Marietta supports The Georgia School Boards Association and the Georgia School Superintendents Association partnership for creating a new vision for public education in the State of Georgia.
