School Leaders

Dr. Ayana Oden has more than 22 years of experience in education. She has served as a classroom teacher in grades 3-5, a mathematics Early Intervention Program (EIP) teacher, an instructional coach, and her current role as assistant principal.

She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, a Teach for America Alumni (Atlanta ’01), and holds a Ph.D. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics education. She also currently serves on the Georgia Department of Education Mathematics Advisory Committee, has worked as a mathematics consultant with Metro RESA, and presented at a number of conferences including the Annual Georgia Council for Teachers of Mathematics (GCTM).

Dr. Oden is a wife, and mother of two daughters, and two Yorkshire Terriers. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and traveling.

Dr. Lindsay Elkins has been in education for 24 years. Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom teacher in grades K-2, a STEM Lab teacher, an instructional coach, and now proudly serves as one of your assistant principals.

Dr. Elkins is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction. Her dissertation focused on increasing daily science instruction for elementary students.

She serves on the Georgia Aquarium’s Educational Advisory Board and has partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) to support Science in Action and with Cox Campus to contribute to Coaching to Build Language & Literacy in PK-5. She is also an active member of the Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA) and the Georgia Science Supervisors Association (GSSA).

Outside of school, Dr. Elkins enjoys spending time with her husband and cheering on their two daughters, who are pursuing their college dreams at the University of Alabama, where one is a junior, and the University of South Carolina, where the other is a freshman.
