About Us

MCAA Drama supports the mission of our STEAM school by giving students the opportunity to explore creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking through the performing arts. While acting, singing, and dancing, our students develop skills that extend beyond the stage while discovering the joy of bringing stories to life. Our program encourages every student to take creative risks, celebrate their unique talents, and shine as part of a team.

Meet the Staff

Lucy Perkins, Director

Lucy Perkins has been teaching music professionally for eleven years, and has had the privilege of teaching general music at MCAA for the past nine.

Raised in the theater by her thespian mother, she grew up performing in plays and musicals in her hometown, Mobile AL. In the past 5 years she has music directed many shows including Oliver JR, Annie JR, and Fiddler on the Roof Jr. She is excited to make her directing debut this year.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, Zoe.

Maria Nelson, Producer

Maria Nelson has taught at MCAA for the last 10 years. This year, she is thrilled to be a part of the drama program. Drama was her favorite club in school, and she feels so lucky to help give students the same opportunity to fall in love with theater. Having seen over 50 musicals, either on Broadway in New York City or at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, she is excited to be on the other side of the curtain, discovering what it’s like to help bring a show to life. She can't wait for you to enjoy it!

Hannah Cronauer, Choreographer

Hannah Cronauer joined Marietta City Schools in 2020, and MCAA in 2024. Dance has been a lifelong passion of Ms. Cronauer, which she continued to pursue in college as a member of Georgia College’s dance program, where she had many opportunities to perform. She has taught dance for nine years, deepening her love for working with young performers. Over the past two years, she has co-directed The Lion King Kids and 101 Dalmatians Kids. She especially enjoys sharing her passion for dance through choreography and watching students bring each production to life on stage.
